What is Tae Kwon-Do?
 Tae Kwon-do is a Korean Martial Art, practised worldwide by people of all ages and from all walks of life.  Literally translated:
 
        Ø      Tae means to jump, kick or smash with the foot
        Ø      Kwon means to punch or destroy with the fist
        Ø      Do means the way/method or art of
 
Why would you want your children to join a club that teaches this!
 
All students are taught in ways that will not only increase physical strength and stamina, but they will learn how to defend themselves, join in group activities and develop a level of self-confidence, as well as enjoying some general fitness and fun by making new friends.  After a satisfactory period of time students are able to participate in sparring, however they must possess the necessary protective equipment.

 

Tenets
Five tenets are also taught in Tae Kwon-Do and students are encouraged to live by the code:
 
                                 Ø  Courtesy  Ø  Integrity  Ø  Perseverance  Ø  Self Control   Ø  Indomitable spirit
 
These tenets form the basis of the teachings of Tae Kwon-Do and have been since its inception.  Of course 5-8 years may not initially understand these meanings, but with guidance they will help to develop students in all aspects of their life
